Aviation

Juniors:

Are you ready to join the ranks of the amazing women who opened the sky to females in flight? In this workshop, we'll introduce you to the various types of aircraft, investigate potential careers in aviation, and learn aeronautical chart symbols. It's time to propel yourself sky high!

Cadettes:

Mary Hawley Myers was the first woman to pilot her own aircraft in 1880. Suzanne Asbury-Oliver is the world's first and only professional female skywriter. Willa Brown was the first African American female to earn a US pilot's license (1938). Each of these innovative women in aviation have a story that still resonates today. Are you ready to see how aviation can change you?

Seniors & Ambassadors:

The sky is the limit for your dreams of flying. Together, let's explore the most important parts of a light airplane, study the flight instrument panel and forces that affect flight. Together we'll investigate how wind and weather affect various aircraft and perform a pre-flight inspection. Successful advancement will mean you've met one or more local female pilots to inspire you and answer your questions. Let's soar!
